Huntsville American League Parent Code of Conduct Agreement

In exchange for my Child being allowed to participate in any Huntsville American League (hereinafter "HAL") event and as a parent, custodian, or legal guardian of said child as a spectator at any HAL event, I hereby consent and agree to abide by the following rules:

1. I (and my guests) will promote the emotional and physical well-being of all HAL participants ahead of any personal desire to win.
2. I will remember that my child plays Sports for his/her enjoyment, not mine.
3. I (and my guests) will encourage good sportsmanship through words and actions and will demonstrate positive support for all players, coaches and officials at every practice, game, or other HAL event.
4. I (and my guests) will provide support for coaches and officials working with HAL participants.
5. I will demand that my child treat all players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex, or ability.
6. I (and my guests) will treat all players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators with dignity through positive language, attitude, behavior, and mannerisms.
7. I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
8. I (and my guests) will respect and agree to protect the property and equipment of HAL.
9. I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as booing and/or taunting; refusing to shake hands; or using profane language or gestures.
10. I (and my guests) will not encourage any behaviors or practices that would endanger the health and well-being of any HAL participant.
11. I will teach my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
12. I will teach my child that doing one's best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.
13. I will never ridicule or yell at my child or any other HAL participant for making a mistake or losing a competition.
14. I will respect the officials and their authority during games and will never question, discuss, or confront coaches during a HAL event, and will take time to speak with coaches/officials at an agreed upon time and place.
15. I agree not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on HAL property or while watching any HAL event.
16. I (and my guests) agree that being involved in any activity that would warrant the summoning of law enforcement officials will subject me to discipline by HAL.
17. I (and my guests) agree that making physical contact with any coach, player, official or other HAL representative will result in expulsion from HAL.
18. I agree that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, I will be subject to disciplinary action which could include, but is not limited to the following: 
19. Verbal warning by any HAL official, board member, coach, and /or other HAL representative.
20. Written warning.
21. Parental game suspension with written documentation of incident kept on file with HAL.
22. Game forfeit.
23. Parental season suspension
